HP TouchSmart TX2 is a nice touchscreen laptop
Nothing like a touchscreen computer from HP, and the TouchSmart TX2 is one of the coolest I have seen for a while. The touchscreen can be used by two fingers, and the user can apply iphone gestures like pinch, rotate, arc, flick, press and drag, and single and double tap. The TouchSmart TX2 is unique as it has a specially-designed hinge so a user can convert it into three modes: PC, display, and tablet. It even has a rechargeable digital ink pen that allows the user to draw on the screen. If you want to use the pen to write, it will automatically turn the handwriting into typed text. Did I mention the HDTV feature? Well, the TouchSmart TX2 has it in spades. (Read the full post about ‘HP TouchSmart TX2 is a nice touchscreen laptop’…)

iPhone 2.2 Launches, Adds Podcast Downloader and Street View
Apple late Thursday night released a major software update for its iPhone operating system, introducing features such as remote podcast downloading and Google Street View. Remote podcast downloading enables users to download audio and video podcasts onto their iPhones with the iTunes app over a wireless connection. In the past, to get podcasts on iPhones, users had to download them onto iTunes on their computers and then connect the handset to sync the files. Apple also made major changes to the Google Maps app, which is now capable of displaying Google Street View, a mode that provides a 360-degree view of thousands of locations taken with cameras mounted on Google’s cars. LG Prada II has a matching Bluetooth Watch
Well, since Prada has essentially conquered the world of fashion, I suppose it is just natural that they take on the world of cellular phones. The Prada has a full 3-inch touchscreen, with a slider QWERTY keyboard as well. Other features include dual-band HSDPA, quad-band GSM, plus a full HTML browser. The user also has the option of listening to FM radio, and watching television with the TV out option. There is also a document viewer for whatever you want to read. Solar Vertical Lamp: one more reason to close the blinds

Solar Vertical Lamp: one more reason to close the blinds
by Darren Murph, posted Nov 21st 2008 at 9:57AM Could everyone just dole out a round of golf claps for Yoon-Hui Kim and Eun-Kyung Kim? Swell, thanks. These two designers have conjured up something that any second-rate hotelier (we kid… kind of) would love, as the Solar Vertical Lamp provides an eco-friendly (and eye-catching) alternative to those drab lamps from the 1980s. With the blinds open, you’ll hardly notice anything unusual, but all the while tiny solar pads are being charged up; when time comes to shut these very blinds, a lighting instrument appears to brighten the otherwise darkened room. Brilliant, right?[Via Inhabitat]Read PermalinkEmail this27 CommentsFiled under: Household (Read the full post about ‘Solar Vertical Lamp: one more reason to close the blinds’…)

Nike NES-Inspired Sneakers
Nike has taken a page out of Nintendo’s book by designing a new pair of Nintendo-inspired sneakers known as the Air Max Terra Ninety. This hybrid shoe shares influences from two of Nike’s most popular models, merging them into one that reminds us of the Air Max 90 and Max Air. The familiar color scheme of the NES controller forms the overall sneaker color, complete with the Nintendo D-pad design into the midsole. Good thing this pair won’t cost you an arm nor a leg, retailing for $130. (Read the full post about ‘Nike NES-Inspired Sneakers’…)

SpongeBob Speakers Roll Their Eyes

SpongeBob Speakers Roll Their Eyes
We have covered SpongeBob Squarepants products before on Coolest gadgets, and I thought my favorite was the rectal thermometer until I saw the SpongeBob Speakers. These SpongeBob Speakers from Npower is a way to play your music with the one who lives in a pineapple under the sea. The big buggy eyes that you see there are speakers, which can roll along to the music. And when I say roll along, I don’t mean that the pupils move to the beat of the music. I mean that when you lay them on a flat surface, these globes will move to and fro. I’ve included a YouTube video so you can watch this in action after the jump. As you can see, the SpongeBob Speakers have a Sponge dock on the top in order to hold whatever mp3 player you care to plug into it. (Read the full post about ‘SpongeBob Speakers Roll Their Eyes’…)

Digital Recipe Reader Copies iPhone UI, Scams Grandma

Digital Recipe Reader Copies iPhone UI, Scams Grandma
The Demy Digital Recipe Reader from Neiman Marcus is not modeled on the iPhone at all. The minimalist design, the large touch-screen, and the cube-shaped glossy menu icons really do not remind us of the ubiquitous media player. Alright, so we are kidding. But who are they kidding? Unsuspecting moms everywhere, it seems, as Neiman Marcus is taking the opportunity of the holiday season to sell these at the premium price of $300. I actually overheard an older couple in a city store talking about this as a gift possibility for their daughter a few weeks ago. The problem is that it is $100 more than the cheapest iPhone (8GB), which could easily serve as the main kitchen helper and access thousands of recipes online.
