Casio GzOne Survives Abuse from Wired

Casio GzOne Survives Abuse from Wired
We first covered the GzOne when it launched in Tokyo (read our hands-on with the GzOne). A few years and a few updates later Wired puts the most recent version through a gadget abuse test that the device took like… an uber-gizmo. Unfortunately, the feature set did not evolve much since we first played with it (to be fair, the original version had a Flash interface, which never made it in the U.S version, I think). The conclusion is: if you are looking for a resilient phone with low-tech features, it might worth taking a look. If not, try to keep the phone in your hand. (check Wired’s video) - $149 (Read the full post about ‘Casio GzOne Survives Abuse from Wired’…)

Folding LCD Monitor to add a lot of real estate

Folding LCD Monitor to add a lot of real estate

More and more geeks are going to a dual monitor setup to not only provide for me monitor space (real estate), but also because it allows for placing tools and uilties on one screen, while the second screen can be used as an actual interface for editing, drawing and other creative endeavors. Sadly, though, because these monitors are separate entitles, one has to deal with the encasement on both interfering with the unbroken image that can move across both screens. That is, until now. If it gets picked up by a manufacturer, this Double-Sided Transforming LCD Display will enable for an unbroken wide screen image, that can also double as a second separate screen. Wow. Best Buy gets Windows-based Eee PC

I’ve been contemplating picking up an Asus Eee PC for those times when I’m on the road and don’t really want to mess with carrying my larger laptop around. Don’t get me wrong, I like having all of the functions and features of my Windows machine, it’s just that when you’re covering a big show, you don’t want to lug something that large around. So why haven’t I picked one up yet? Because I want to actually be able to see it and use it first. Thankfully I’ll be able to walk into my local Best Buy and do just that. According to Asus, their new 4GB Windows XP (yes, Windows) version will soon be stocked at Best Buy stores throughout the country. (Read the full post about ‘Best Buy gets Windows-based Eee PC’…)

If Twitter is too fast for you, try dawdlr

If Twitter is too fast for you, try dawdlr
I may love Twitter, the site where you have 140 short characters to tell the world what you’re up to, lovers may love Twitter, but I do understand that Twitter’s not for everyone. Some people don’t want to share the details of every thought, meal or bathroom break with the rest of the Internet and find the constantly updated details of other people’s every thought too much to keep up with. If you’re one of these people, allow me to introduce you to the anti-Twitter: dawdlr. As the website puts it, “dawdlr is a global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: what are you doing, you know, more generally?” Instead of typing in what you’re up to, you send dawdlr a postcard detailing your activities, and some are chosen for the site. Spiderman 3 Movie Intercom Masks

Spiderman 3 Movie Intercom Masks

I guess these have been around for quite a while now since the Spiderman 3 movie has long ended its run at the cinemas, but they’re still cool enough to warrant a mention here. Two realistic Spiderman masks with an intercom duplex system that allows you to talk and listen to your partner at the same time. Features: flexible microphone arm and adjustable intercom mask strap. Requires 2-9V batteries (not included). They won’t come cheap though, and since you’ll need at least a couple of these, the £34.99 price tag could be rather prohibitive. Review: Viking: Battle for Asgard
Viking: Battle for Asgard has been on Geek.com’s radar since late last year during SEGA’s Winter Wonderland. At that time, we just got to watch and admire the game. Later, at SEGA’s Sweet Celebration, we got a chance to get some hands-on time with the title. But for as excited as we were for Viking to come out, it’s hard to believe how much better the game is than previews would seem to indicate. Read on to find out why you’ll want to join in on the Norse madness. Graphically, Viking: Battle for Asgard is quite impressive. It’s not just that you get to hack bad guys into little bits, decapitate them, amputate body parts, and otherwise cause them misery. (Read the full post about ‘Review: Viking: Battle for Asgard’…)

Multi-Screwdriver Torch

Now here’s a torch that does more than light up your path whenever the power fails (which isn’t too often these days) - the Multi-Screwdriver Torch. Not only will you be able to find your way through a blanket of darkness, it features a whole host of interchangeable screwdriver heads that will be able to cater for most DIY projects without the need for a whole bunch of different screwdrivers. Just make sure you don’t lose these heads though, as there won’t be any individual replacements. Instead, you’ll have to fork out $17 for a whole new Multi-Screwdriver Torch instead. Self-inflating tire will save money and reduce damage to the environment

Self-inflating tire will save money and reduce damage to the environment
If you’re like me, you have no idea if you’re maintaining proper tire pressure in your car tires in between trips to the shop. This self-inflating tire, developed in the Czech Republic, takes this out of your hands by inflating automatically through a device called a peristaltic pump which inflates the tire as it turns, keeping it at a constant, safe pressure level. This technology, if adopted widely, will not only make the roads safer, but will have a positive environmental impact by way of savings on fuel (cars with under-inflated tires use more fuel), resulting in a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, and an increase in the lifespan of tires. Read more here. (Read the full post about ‘Self-inflating tire will save money and reduce damage to the environment’…)

Nokia N96 with Xenon flash leaked image

Nokia N96 with Xenon flash leaked image
Just yesterday, we mentioned that the Nokia N96 will have a Xenon flash. Unfortunately at the time is was based mostly on rumor, so what better way for us to be able to follow that up, with nothing less than a leaked picture of a Nokia N96 with a Xenon flash. While this is far from official confirmation, it certainly seems this rumor has been proven true. Looks like the Nokia N96 excites as it features a generous 2.8-inch QVGA display, impressive stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, and the much awaited Xenon flash, similar to what Nokia N82 currently has.  Now, I’m pretty much convinced that N96 will be worth the wait. So Nokia, when can we finally get our hands on your new baby? (Read the full post about ‘Nokia N96 with Xenon flash leaked image’…)

I LOVE YOU MAGIC BEANSTALK

I LOVE YOU MAGIC BEANSTALK

This is a Luckies classic. Just open the can, add water and hey presto, a few days later rises up a real, living beanstalk. That’s pretty cool, but here’s the freaky bit; one of the leaves is embossed with those 3 little words - ‘I love You’.  Wow. How? Nature or nurture? Who knows, but it makes a cool gift. Comes in a free counter display.
