ClarityLife adds new feature to mobile phones: cataracts!
Right, now April 1st has been and gone, we can get on with the real mobile news - thankfully! Apologies to regular readers for the lame April Fool’s joke on April 1st. Everyone else was doing it, but that’s no excuse, and after finding myself bored senseless by reading lame joke after lame joke, I realized that I’d committed the same sin on my own blog! So, no more April Fools from now on! Anyway, on with the news. A newcomer to the mobile phone world, ClarityLife, has released a new mobile phone that offers, well, nothing at all! As you can see from the pic, you get four huge buttons, a monochrome screen, and a one touch emergency button on the back…and that’s it. LG KF600 Review - CNET Australia

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 in Gadgets News | Comments Off

CNET Australia reviews the LG KF600 and writes, “For a 3-megapixel camera we expected it to be a little sharper but it didn’t perform as well as we expected, particularly in low light due to the lack of a xenon flash. There is an LED photo light, but you shouldn’t expect it to illuminate your photos. That said, if you just want to take photos for MMS messages and small prints, it does the job.”

Rumble Dualshock 3 Controllers To Ship
At long last, PS3 owners will be able to get their game on with rumble-enabled Dualshock 3 wireless controllers from next week onwards in order to enhance the gaming experience. There is an updated list of compatible games which you can refer to here, and those with an asterisk would require a patch download before the rumble features can be activated. Shouldn’t be a problem - just make sure your PS3 is connected online and you’re good to go. Oh, the release of these new Dualshock 3 controllers would mean we bid adieu to the lamented SIXAXIS. For good. (Read the full post about ‘Rumble Dualshock 3 Controllers To Ship’…)

Sony launches the Bravia W4000-Series LCD TVs
Sony has released its newest LCD TV series, the Bravia 4000 which according to Sony is “a new standard in picture excellence.” The Bravia 4000 features a picture frame mode that will let users display their photos when the television is not in use. While the HD photos are playing by way of a slideshow, the picture frame mode will reduce the LCD’s brightness. Users can also personalize their television with their own photos using the USB Photoviewer. Or if it is a hassle to you, you can just use the six pre-installed pictures of some pop and classical artists. In addition, the Sony Bravia W4000-series LCD TV also features the BRAVIA sync technology which uses HDMI connection to transmit commands to the various components of a home theatre system. PS3 Faucet

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 in Gadgets News | Comments Off

I know that intense gaming often results in sweaty palms, so before pausing the game and digging into that pizza, why not take a toilet break and wash your hands instead? The PS3 Faucet from Jean Nouvel will definitely appeal to PS3 fans, where in place of a standard faucet head, you get PS button markings. O represents turning the faucet on while X turns it off. The triangles are used to adjust the temperature, relegating the square to the abyss as it is not featured here. No idea on how much this PS3 faucet will cost, but cheap isn’t the word I’m looking for.

3G iPhone coming any day now?

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 in Gadgets News | Comments Off

According to numerous reports, there’s a shortage of iPhones in Apple’s stores in the United States. This shortage is leading many analysts to speculate that the new 3G iphone is coming sooner than originally expected, since Apple traditionally slows down supply prior to a new product introduction. However, before you get your hopes up, let’s look deeper into the situation. First off, the shortage is only in the United States and only at the Apple Store–AT&T is well stocked.

G-Dog — Not Your Friendly-Looking Cuddly Toy Dog

G-Dog — Not Your Friendly-Looking Cuddly Toy Dog
We’ve all seen the Robo-Dog. Unfortunately, it’s made for the military, so us civilians can’t even dream of owning one. But then, there’s G-Dog, and all my woes were whisked away. Well okay, I don’t exactly dream of owning a robot dog which can shred me to bits. Cute and cuddly is more like it. But if you want a not-so-friendly-looking robot pet, G-Dog is one fine option. It’s actually a DIY machine, and comes as a kit that includes seven motors, 7.2 V battery, and AC adapter, RPU-11 controlling unit, software for motion programming, and 3 axial acceleration sensor. the body of the dog is made of resin and everything else, I presume, is metal. Keepin’ it real fake, part CXV: CECT T5 T32 WinMo 6 iPhone clone doesn’t try to hide it
Posted Apr 2nd 2008 10:36AM by Paul MillerFiled under: cellphones We’re sorry, but we can no longer summon any sort of enthusiasm for iPhone knockoffs. Who cares if they’re running Windows Mobile 6 with a perfect clone of the iphone interface, plus GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and whatever other tech flavor of the month; the form factor just kills it for us at this point. Plus at $265 wholesale, the CECT T5 T32 from China ain’t no bargain. Let’s try a bit harder, people![Via TRFJ] (Read the full post about ‘Keepin’ it real fake, part CXV: CECT T5 T32 WinMo 6 iPhone clone doesn’t try to hide it’…)

Shake Powered Torch

Shake Powered Torch
Now, this is ingenious: shake the Shake Torch for approximately 45 seconds. And it gives 5 minutes of light. No batteries needed. Plus, it has an everlasting LED light rather than a bulb. So no spares needed either. Ingenious, wouldn’t you agree?

Sprint Has Sanyo Katana LX

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 in Gadgets News | Comments Off

Sprint is the carrier of choice if you want to pick up the Sanyo Katana LX which will be available in blue, pink and gray colors. Here are some specifications of the Katana LX :-

  • 1X data speed
  • 128 x 160 resolution display
  • VGA camera
  • GPS connectivity

As you can see, the LX isn’t much to shout about, but it does look pretty sleek with a ‘disappearing’ OLED external display whenever it isn’t on. Hopefully the Katana LX will retain the excellent speakerphone and voice quality as its predecessors.
