Treo 800w Out This Summer?

Treo 800w Out This Summer?
Rumblings on the ground show that the Treo 800w will be out from Sprint this summer, with July 22nd being the date in question. Some of the first time features to be made available on the Treo line would be WiFi connectivity and GPS navigation, all running on the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system. Chances are the Treo 800w will have a similar general shape as standard Palm smartphones, but you will definitely enjoy the 320 x 320 resolution display much more than other handsets from Palm of yore. Apparently, Sprint’s version will have EV-DO Revision A while the GSM version should come with the 3G standard HSDPA. (Read the full post about ‘Treo 800w Out This Summer?’…)

Set phasers to snooze with the Laser Target Alarm Clock

Set phasers to snooze with the Laser Target Alarm Clock
We’ve all had mornings where the sound of the alarm clock made us wish we had a gun to blow the shrill little noise maker away. But thanks to municipal gun laws, such tactics would likely land you in jail for firing a gun within city limits. Now you can silence an alarm clock while getting in some target practice and without the need to hire an attorney. ThinkGeek is offering a Laser Target Alarm Clock that comes with a laser gun that makes you work for sweet silence in the morning. When the alarm sounds, you pick up the phaser-like shaped gun and fire it at the target over the clock. In order to quiet the alarm the laser has to hit the center of the target. PEAK PlasmaBlade electrosurgery scalpel is amazing, disgusting

PEAK PlasmaBlade electrosurgery scalpel is amazing, disgusting
by Nilay Patel, posted May 8th 2008 at 5:02AM Okay, so we’re not exactly doctors, but we couldn’t help but be intrigued by PEAK Surgical’s announcement today that its PlasmaBlade electrosurgery scalpel had completed preclinical testing with positive results. Unlike traditional electrosurgery tools like the bovie cutter, the PlasmaBlade operates at low temperatures, using pulsed plasma energy to cut tissue and control bleeding. Then, stupidly, we watched the video. Let’s just say now that it no longer matters to us that surgeons using the PEAK PlasmaBlade produce “minimal collateral damage” to tissue and that bleeding was reduced. Sure, it’s great for the surgeons, but our eyes? Not going to be the same. (Read the full post about ‘PEAK PlasmaBlade electrosurgery scalpel is amazing, disgusting’…)

Palm gets real on the Zeppelin, adds mystery device named Skywriter

Palm gets real on the Zeppelin, adds mystery device named Skywriter
by Joshua Topolsky, posted May 7th 2008 at 11:06AM The hot word on the street is that Palm has all but confirmed the existence of two new phone models by ramping up a “launch developer” program for new applications. The devices, dubbed Zeppelin (a name we’ve heard quite a bit of) and Skywriter (which is new to us) could be slated for a Q3 release, as Palm is asking devs to turn in their applications by May 30th. Rumor has it that at least one of the units is a “Centro-like” Windows mobile phone — if that date is close to correct, it could very well be the “Wanda” that we saw back in January. The Zeppelin, on the other hand, is likely the WiFi equipped Treo 800w we’ve been hearing about for what seems like a million years. Free WiFi gaining edge?

Free WiFi gaining edge?
Have you ever tried to the guess the pass key of a locked down WiFi?  As more and more travelers try to seek out free WiFi, they encounter a new trend: paid and free WiFi.  It seems, offering WiFi for free does have some benefits when used as a give and take. The latest to try this method is Starbucks.  When AT&T takes over, they will offer 2 free hours as long as you have a Starbucks gift card.  Loyalty still gets you something these days.  Whether it is viewing an add or signing up for a loyalty program, more and more free WiFi is the benefit.  Omni Hotels is trying just this method: free WiFi if you sign up for their program or paid service if you’d rather not.  The result? The Stress Eraser: Real or Fake?

The Stress Eraser: Real or Fake?
When it comes to the type of products that are suppose to be stress-free, I have my doubts that they really work. By looking at the description of the StressEraser, my guesses are probably right. The working method couldn’t be much easier: stick your finger on the StressEraser for 15 minutes per day, for 2 weeks - afterwards you’re expected to feel more calmer, patient, and energetic. In case you feel the stress coming up during any time of the day, just use the Eraser once again. Believe it or not, this device won a Frost & Sullivan’s 2006 Medical Industry Award. Priced at 150. The StressEraser focuses your mind and guides your breathing to synchronize with a calming BreathWav pattern. (Read the full post about ‘The Stress Eraser: Real or Fake?’…)

Panasonic’s ExConnect bringing broadband back to flights
Internet access on flights will be a reality again next year with a new system called ExConnect from Panasonic’s Avionics division. ExConnect is expected to offer Internet access at speeds similar to those found at other hotspots on the ground. On top of that it will also allow the airlines to show live TV on flights through the same setup. The price for passengers is expected to be US$12 per hour or US$22 for a whole day. The ExConnect service utilises the existing GlobalConnex satellite system and is expected to appear on multiple airlines in 2009. Panasonic has not revealed which airlines they will be, but initial coverage will be in specific areas of the world. Marine Catcher Matches Claw for Claw

Marine Catcher Matches Claw for Claw
This is one of those coolest gadgets that just screams of irony. Yes, what you see in the photo is true: the Marine Catcher is one of those claw games that lets you catch a pair of claws. The water on the bottom isn’t there for a challenge, but to protect the prize: a lobster. As far as I know, this Marine Catcher can only be found in Osaka, Japan’s Namba district. I’m not certain how much yen a player has to insert for this crustacean gamble. In case you are wondering, the machine has a plastic bag in case you actually catch one of these lobsters. That’s good, because I wouldn’t want one of these lobsters squirming around in my backpack. (Read the full post about ‘Marine Catcher Matches Claw for Claw’…)

Green-House GH-USB-CUP2
Cold drinks should remain cold, and hot drinks, well, hot, if they’re to be enjoyed the way it is supposed to be. Green-House aims to help you with that aspect of your favorite beverage thanks to its Green-House GH-USB-CUP2 USB cup cooler and warmer that caters to all seasons, regardless of whether you love drinking chilled or hot drinks. Temperatures can remain as low as 15? or even kept warm at 40?, although I would’ve preferred a larger range to work with. All you need to do is place your cup on your metal plate, plug in the device into any available powered USB port and you’re good to go. (Read the full post about ‘Green-House GH-USB-CUP2′…)
