Eye-Fi Adds Geotagging And Hotspot Support

Posted on May 12th, 2008 in Gadgets News | Comments Off

Eye-Fi just announced an update to its line of WiFi enabled SD cards and made them a whole lot more useful. The original $100 card has been rebadged “Eye-Fi Share” and has been joined by the “Eye-Fi Home”, an $80 card which functions as a cable replacement: no uploading to Flickr or anywhere else, just wireless transfer to your computer, and the quite exciting $130 “Eye-Fi Explore”, which will geotag and upload your photos out in the field. All models are till 2GB in size.

One of the problems our Danny Dumas noted with the original card is that it will only work with pre-configured WiFi access points. You needed to set the card up by connecting it to a computer.

Research finds mobile phones stimulate brainwaves

Posted on May 12th, 2008 in Gadgets News | Comments Off

Two studies done into the affects of mobile phones on brainwaves have found the electromagnetic signals emanating from a phone can alter brainwaves.

The first study is entitled, “The effect of mobile phone electromagnetic fields on the alpha rhythm of human electroencephalogram” and was lead by Rodney Croft at the Brain Science Institute in Melbourne, Australia. It took 120 healthy men and women and strapped a Nokia 6110 to their heads. EEG data was then collected on all participants, but neither the researchers or the subjects knew which phones were actually receiving transmissions in a double-blind test scenario.

That test showed that alpha waves in the brain were boosted by the phone.

FCC Evaluates HTC Touch Diamond

FCC Evaluates HTC Touch Diamond
The HTC Touch Diamond might be recently announced, and the folks at the FCC certainly wasted no time getting their hands on it. Apparently, the Touch Diamond is just a few approvals away from marketing, and this will probably mean such a handset will beat the 3G iphone out of the stable doors. All specifications on the HTC Touch Diamond are still unavailable from the FCC site, but a cross-section blueprint of its innards display relatively clean and simple lines, which is always a good thing. Best you start saving up your cash now if you want this highly desirable handset when it is released. (Read the full post about ‘FCC Evaluates HTC Touch Diamond’…)
