Review: Defend Your Castle for WiiWare

Review: Defend Your Castle for WiiWare
When Nintendo boasted that they would be launching the WiiWare service with the intent of making it a haven for indie games, this is certainly what they had in mind. If these types of “arcade” services are meant for simple, pick-up-and-play games that manage to be addictive at the same time, then this game from XGen Studios will be right at home. For anyone who has never played the web app, the game is exceedingly simple, consisting of a static view of a “castle” made of construction paper and a green field which attackers (stick figures with buttons for heads) rush across to attack the walls of your castle. To progress in the game, the player simply grabs the attackers with the Wii remote and flings them to their crushing death. (Read the full post about ‘Review: Defend Your Castle for WiiWare’…)

New Viewfinder from Nikon?

New Viewfinder from Nikon?
Guess Nikon is working on a new viewfinder technology that allows a tiny display screen to be viewed right inside the optical viewfinder itself. Apparently, the photographer has the choice to switch between the optical image and digital display. One interesting point would be the ability to enable a wide viewing angle whenever the subject is zoomed in. This wide preview mode can be accessed through a button located near the lens mount, and chances are such technology will make their way on DSLRs instead of low-cost point-and-shoots. I wonder when will this patent application be approved . (Read the full post about ‘New Viewfinder from Nikon?’…)

Keep on Talking — Mini Battery Pack and Charger
I don’t know anyone who couldn’t use this mini battery pack from Kensington. Not only does it power and charge your iphone or ipod, it’s small enough to slip in your purse so you’ll always have it with you. It extends play time up to 30 hours of music (nano 3rd generation only), 6 hours of video, or 3 hours of talk. The rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery pack comes with a retractable USB charging cable for recharging the battery pack, and the LED battery meter displays the remaining power level . If you let the battery pack run out you’re on your own. $49.99 at Kensington or Amazon. (Read the full post about ‘Keep on Talking — Mini Battery Pack and Charger’…)

Italian Telco Chief Confirms 3G iPhone In Italy ‘Next Month’
Luigi Licciardi, a vice president at Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) told tech journalist David Manners that the company will be selling a 3G iPhone next month. The quote is unambiguous: We will be selling an iPhone with 3G capability next month. Manners spoke to Licciardi on a bus taking the men into the Dubai desert for dinner. To be honest, we’re more interested what they had for dinner. If a new iPhone isn’t announced on June 9th at the Wordwide Developers Conference, I know exactly what I will be eating for dinner that night. My hat. MizPee helps you get back to basics
There can be no need as basic and as urgent as the need to satisfy the call of nature. Coming to the point, if you were ever (again) caught in a situation where your bladder wants to do the talking and the only problem is that you are out on the street, fear not as MizPee will help you squat in peace. MizPee is actually a service which lists closest and cleanest toilets, so you don’t have to waste painful moments looking for one yourself. So, provided you have an Internet ready device, you can query the site for nearby restrooms by entering information about your current location. In return, you can help expand their database of loos by listing ones that are not on the site or by rating those already listed. (Read the full post about ‘MizPee helps you get back to basics’…)

Eurocom lets loose Quad Core XEON-based D901C PHANTOM-X server laptop

Eurocom lets loose Quad Core XEON-based D901C PHANTOM-X server laptop
by Donald Melanson, posted May 12th 2008 at 12:48PM It’s not often we see laptop manufacturers boast of a one-hour battery life, but in the case of Eurocom’s new D901C PHANTOM-X “mobile server,” that spec is certainly hard-earned enough to warrant notice. The battery drain begins with a 2.8GHz Quad Core XEON X3360 processor, which gets paired with 1.5 terabytes of storage in the form of three SATA-300 hard drives (complete with various RAID options), 8GB of DDR2-800 memory, a Blu-ray burner, and a comparatively modest 17-inch display, to name but a few specs. All that, not surprisingly, takes just as big a toll on your back as it does on battery life, with the PHANTOM-X weighing in at a lugabble 12-pounds. Gadgenista Review: Stylus Jewelry Charm!
Remember when I wrote about the Stylus Jewelry Charms from Strapya-World? I sort of mentioned that I decided to buy one for myself. It finally reached the Philippine shore… all the way from Japan! I could have gotten it a bit earlier, but it’s been stuck at our local post office. Unfortunately, I didn’t know it wasn’t going to be delivered straight to my home so it’s been sitting there for like 2 weeks before I actually had someone pick it up for me, hehehe. So anyway, I got it already and it’s happily attached itself to my SE M600i! Stylus Jewelry charm with my SE M600i! Again, sorry for the poor photo quality, haha! What I think: For me it’s a great buy. (Read the full post about ‘Gadgenista Review: Stylus Jewelry Charm!’…)

Eye-Fi ‘s got three new Wi-Fi SD card models; share, home, explore
Remember that innovative Wi-Fi-enabled SD card aptly named the Eye-Fi? Well Eye-Fi, which is what the company is also called, must have been overwhelmed by the success of their product that they decided to add not just one new model, but three to the Eye-Fi SD card series. So, we now have the Eye-Fi Share, Eye-Fi Home and the Eye-Fi Explore. Actually, there’s not too many differences with these three models. It is still the same Wi-Fi enabled SD card that was launched not so long ago. For instance, both the Eye-Fi Share and Eye-Fi Home are almost identical to the current Eye-Fi models in terms of features. However, Eye-Fi home is geared for users who want to sync their SD card to their PCs only. (Read the full post about ‘Eye-Fi ‘s got three new Wi-Fi SD card models; share, home, explore’…)

Looking for a PMP with 250GB of storage, try the Newman M8000
Portable media players with 250GB of internal storage are hard to come by, for one many people don’t really need anywhere close to that amount of storage. However, Newman has recently introduced a player that comes in a few different models with storage options ranging from 80GB up to 250GB. The M8000 comes loaded with many nice features including 4-inch TFT screen, built-in camera, TV-Out, gaming support, a PVR and other multimedia support. It is also an HD quality portable media player and the video clarity should be really good, especially with the big 4-inch screen. The only drawback to having a portable media player with a lot of storage is that sometimes it will take a long time to turn on and to find the video you want.
