While Microsoft seems content in not bringing anything new to the game (or at least good looking and semi functional) in the realm of GUI for handhelds, third party developers are picking up the charge.  The latest entry: Skybox for Microsoft Mobile.

Skybox adds a shell to your Windows mobile device allowing better access and more logical connections to the wealth of software in your phone.  The company says (and verifys through video) that the animations are smooth and is very configurable (something current WinMo phones just are not).  I am really digging the grid view as it is easy to see, looks easy to navigate around and just flat out looks trick.

There is a 16 day trial period because clearly, 15 days is too short a time to enjoy and 17 days starts to make you feel you are ripping someone off.  After that, the skin costs $23.31 (Euro conversion, sorry).
